Namkaran Muhurat — Auspicious Baby Naming Ceremony Dates
Traditional 11th-day timing + soft nakshatra selection for a newborn.
Namkaran (naming ceremony) is classically observed on the 11th day after birth per Grihya Sutras, though modern families choose within the first 3-4 weeks. The muhurat rules apply to whichever day is chosen. Because this is a child-driven ceremony, some rules that apply to adult-planned events (Chaturmas, Kharmas, Dagdha, Guru combustion) do NOT block Namkaran — the ceremony must happen close to the birth regardless.
What we do check: soft/friendly nakshatras (Ashwini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Revati), favourable tithi, weekday preference (Mon/Wed/Thu/Fri best), no Panchak, no eclipse. Harsh nakshatras (Bharani, Krittika, Ardra, Ashlesha, Magha, Jyeshtha, Mula) are avoided for infants.

- ✓ No Panchak
- ✓ No eclipse days
- ✓ Chaturmas, Kharmas, Dagdha, combustion checks NOT applied (child-driven timing)
